Character Design 5: Pooh by bmbbaby4 Character Design 5: Pooh by bmbbaby4
Hey all!

Here's my fifth and final character for my character design class, Pooh from my Winnie the Pooh post apocalypse idea :D (Big Grin)

The assignment is for all semester: choose a story already created that has at least 5 characters. Choose 5 characters and put them in a different time period and change their whole story. So i chose Winne the Pooh and turned them human and put them in a post apocalyptic world >:3 I'm incorporating the animal skulls and all sorts of things to make them all awesome and terrifying bandits in the apocalypse.

I saved Pooh for last not because I thought he was going to be great, but actually for the opposite reason. I had NO idea what I was going to do for him, so I put him off for the end and actually he became my second favorite out of the bunch lol. It was an interesting two weeks working on him because I had to google a bunch of morbidly obese people to get his body right haha. Pooh is a gross, fat and lazy person who is only around because he is Piglet's brother and can cook fairly well. He's like the male version of that gross lunch lady you might've had in elementary school.

Enjoy!

Art and idea belongs to me! Please do not copy or recreate!

I've looked (stalked) through your gallery and I really like these Character designs you've done they all still have the spirit of the originals but with a little erm... change XD

They all look awesome! (And yes fat people are harder to draw XD)

Haha thank you! Character design was by far my favorite class of the semester. My instructor was amazing and really pushed me to do more than I ever thought I could. I tried keeping the color scheme and certain quirks from the original so they sort of mimicked the originals lol. But yes, my take on them is VERY different :P

I like character designs, and also how other people do it. What aspects they choose, what features they like to exaggerate and which ones to suppress. I just love good character design, I mean you could have the best plot ever but if the characters look sort of... Meh... Then the whole animation quality is brought down and the film fails to do well and all the animators loose their jobs and a black hole swallows the earth. So good character design is a good thing to learn XD

Yeah, I bet when designing them I bet the artists never thought "I wonder what they'd be like in a post apocalyptic world." Well if they wanted to, now they can! XD

Though I do know that each one of them is based of a mental illness like depression and ADHD which is kind of quirky XD

Yeah strong character design is so important! If characters aren't like able or pleasing in some ways then the story and animation can totall fall through. It was so fun bringing something new to the table with something no one really thought to do. Everyone had bomb ideas though so it was awesome to see what others came up with!

Its hard also to get something pleasing that is also not cliche or a stereotype.

Funny thing is that a "Bomb" Idea over here in the UK means... Rather rubbish XD But I know what you mean.

You'll have to do more of them in your spare time, things like making Dean a human or even a cat XD

Haha I love playing with those ideas. I've turned dean into a human before but that was a while ago... I should draw that again :P
